[on to 2020] concluding thoughts, next steps + FAQs lmao

Dec 26, 2019

some concluding thoughts about the blog:

probably will not do a daily post format (though i did not post daily, but a post per day) style any time soon again.

was a lot more time consuming than i expected and at some points it unfortunately felt like a chore but i did it and hey now i know

Sunset along Nakatajima Sand Dunes in Hamamatsu with Kさん and her husband, Nov 20

some concluding numbers from the trip:

# of times in onsen: 7 times (5 onsens), 9 times including public baths (i think)
# of food revelations: …not sure
# of places i stayed at:exactly 20 i believe (including friend’s homes, hostels, workstays, etc)
Okama Crater, Zao, Yamagata with M., Oct 28
for the sake of transparency and because i don’t want to accidentally fomo people:
# of times i doubted myself: not going to try to count
# of times i have cried: …10…+?
# of times i wondered if i was doing the right thing/if this was worth everything i put into it: also not going to try to count
# of times i was felt insecure/jealous of my friends who have stable jobs/incomes: same as above
but also # of times i have been told by those stable job/income frds that they are jealous of what i’m doing: probably at least once per person i met along the way
# of times i had a headache/near migraine that colored most of my day:i will say at least 10 days, maybe more than 14 days
# of days i was getting/little bit sick:3 weeks+?
Lake Chuzenji, Nikko with T., Oct 23

and for the people who ask these questions

  • what was your fav food this trip? lord help me i do not know the highlights are many
  • what was the best part of your trip? being able to do the trip and never regretting quitting my job
  • what was the worst part of the trip? doubting myself and what i was doing next, making myself feel like i should be productive, not knowing what i ‘should’ be doing, getting my brain to slow down
  • where was your favorite place? tell me what your criteria is and i’ll try to answer your question (ex. are you tryna see temples or gorge yourself on street food or see nature be pretty)
