- first day at the orchard, host K. says we’re ‘weeding’ but we’re only trimming and not cutting out roots so who knows
- biked to where the car is parked to go to orchard, have not biked in years since bad fall, tbh proud of myself for biking ok
- work isn’t tough tough but it def isn’t easy… shoulders and neck sore! lot harder on the body than making beds
- free fruits though! but also 4pm dinners are apparently a thing rip evening hunger
- dog poop smells (ie. we walked the dog that gets no attention from his owner ‘after’ work)

breakfast: banana yoghurt ‘milk’ (he gets this cheaper milk drink thing) + ‘milk’ tea
grapes during quick rest break in the morning!! last grapes of the season apparently. so sweet and refreshing, was real thirsty (def need to bring water next time)
lunch he made: kimbap-like rolls, yum (but slightly over salty) mushroom leek veg omelette toast (made like french toast but savory v interesting), caramel (too sweet) bread, inari sushi
pears for lunch dessert, also yum
image of the other vol laughing when she sees me wobbling the first moments i get on bike as she realizes when i said i haven’t biked in a while and feel low key worried i wasn’t joking lol
i’m told dinner is usually homemade and good (though at 4pm so who can really eat that that much), but the family member that usually cooks is away so we had 7/11 bentos (soggyish hash browns and karaage, but the fish is good, fish is always so solid)
also because other vols spilled much tea the night before, my expectations were way low, and so today host was a lil better than i expected, we barely see him, it’s alright for now, though i would say that for the work we do, i’d expect to get food for our days off too

tbh i always thought fuji was low key overrated but i get it, it’s MASSIVE it’s just on the horizon and towers over everything else
many orchards in the area
the weed whacker/whipper snipper (is what the australian vol called it lol)
me and my gear and sore shoulder
after shift on orchard: fed the cats, (had a great shower that felt extra great after all the grass/weed/soil i got covered in), but then walked the dog, and man, probably would not own a dog because work and also picking up poop, and don’t get me wrong, dogs are great, just probably would not own one, but here we were today, walking in the dark, carrying a bucket of dog poop, what is life
in the evening: errands, blog, watched most of a japanese movie with the other vol (only japanese and with japanese subtitles, and can understand 75-80%! pretty impressed with myself tbh especially since haven’t taken class/been consistently practicing since ~dec’18/this jan)
