[DAY11] First day of work + Rankoshi

Sunday, Oct 6
  • brief shift before lunch, then rice harvest festival at rankoshi (ft. me asking for directions in the tourist center with some basic nihongo)
  • amazing evening ft. brief nap, reading samples on kindle trying to pick book (these samples enabling my pickiness oof), Ram-san’s Nepalese chai (cries), sapporo beer + foosball + jenga (ft. our team winning foosball after the ‘tournament’ somehow lmao)
Becky made fried rice for our lunch~ + leftover salmon and meats 🙂
Some Germans gave us free(!!) mulled wine at the Rankoshi Kirara (name of the rice?) Festival, which as I understand is a rice harvesting festival
Big pot. 何ですか?”Nabe”, he said. Looked so yum, too bad we came closer to end of the festival.
1 book 20yen, 3 books 50yen, these books basically free lord
kid (in left): sits in tower of high chair
other volunteers: enjoying the festival looking around
me: i wonder if that kid likes feeling powerful on that high chair or just can’t get down… maybe it’s a metaphor for people in positions of authority
other volunteer: lol what
i liked the doodle on the shutters
hammock + fireplace + reading on kindle + ram-san’s chai before dinner 幸せえええ
Ram-san made Nepalese momos (such spice but yum) and Tommy made potato cheese omelettes for dinner~
Let’s just say our Jenga towers got more and more intricate + I really liked making a few of the weird ones (didn’t make this beer can one though lol)
