- rainy Sapporo, got Japanese pasta lunch (lol) and chilled waiting to be picked up
- approx eta was delayed, so hung out in hotel lobby doing some budgeting
- got picked up with the other volunteers i’ll be working with, trip to Otaru (which i was informed of only couple nights before)
- long night out lol that ended in ~3:30am (involving two bars, many beers, karaoke, and good small dishes) in his friend’s place what a night also his place was sick

high key chose pasta over other choices (ex. beef rice, sashimi rice) because pasta would come with salad and was overall cheaper

when getting pasta twice, the menu says the bread is made of hokkaido wheat, not sure how it’s different, but this bread was real good + flavor, esp toasted + with that light butter wow

so many things i can say but uh just for this a) i have never drank so much beer because i don’t beer, but either sapporo beer has really got me or i’m outgrowing my distaste of it??? b) one of their friends made this AMAZING fish i cannot stress, so flavorful, so fresh, so wow c) they sang bday song to me in 5+ languages (polish, eng, japanese, turkish, nepalese, french, etc) lol d) is this white paint as projector screen not sick e) sang karaoke and the japanese people were nice enough to be impressed by me singing like two japanese songs lol f) i withstood so much more secondhand smoke than i thought i was recently capable of
unfortunately not many food pics (whoops) but here’s the incomplete list of dishes from my memory:
- sausage curled on stick like big lollipop with side of ketchup and mustard
- sauteed veg (cabbage, bell pepper, onion) + mushrooms
- cheese omelette with takoyaki? sauce + side of rice
- so many local hokkaido grapes, not sure if kyoho (or what that actually means), but were kyoho-like but smaller and not as sweet as what i’ve had before
- mapo tofu
- masa2 made fried rice, was pretty japanese-style
- oysters marinated in light vinegar with crisp shiso leaf
- ホヤ, some fish sashimi that i was told is always great with sake… it tasted… like some kind of soap + some other fish i couldn’t place the name of
